Pharaoh Khufu made himself a great pyramid, The pyramid of Giza. It was guarded by the sphinx, and had many tunnels and passages. He was buried in the heart of it. It had more than 2,000,000 stone blocks. It took 20 years to build, and the king's burial chamber had six roofs!

This is Abu Simbel, a temple to Ramses The Great II. The main temple is carved into the side of a cliff. Four giant statues of Ramses frame the entrance, and they are an example of amazing carvings. They are detailed down to the wrinkles on his nose. Inside, there is statues of him and three of Egyptian gods. He had more temples built for himself then anyone else, and a special one for him to be buried in it.

Pharoah Senusret I was a patron of the arts, and his greatest accomplishments were architectural. His greatest temple was The White Chapel. It was made of alabaster, and originally covered in gold, but later on, another Pharaoh took it apart and used it to make himself a temple. He had lots of embellishment for his temples because he controlled mines of gold, copper and gems.
These temples took years to make and they were very important to the pharaohs. It was their burial chamber, after all!
