These are canopic jars. They removed the organs and placed them in the jars. The jars were designed as gods and were animal headed.
There are two parts to mummification, embalming and wrapping.
Enbalming
1) The body is taken to a tent called the ibu where the body is washed with good smelling palm oil.
2) A worker makes a cut in the left side of the body and the organs are removed. They are packed in natron. A long hook is put up the nostril and smashes the brain. Then the brain is pulled out.
3) The body is stuffed with natron, which will dry it out, then covered.
4) After 40 days the body is uncovered and covered with oils to keep the skin elastic.
5) The dehydrated organs are wrapped in linen and returned to the body. The body is stuffed with leaves and sawdust to keep it realistic.
6) The body is once again covered in good smelling oils. It is ready to be wrapped in linen.

3) The arms and the legs are wrapped separately. Between the cloth they put amulets to protect the soul in the afterlife.
4) The arms and the legs are tied together and a scroll with spells from the Book of the Dead.
5) More strips of linen are wrapped around the mummy and between each layer they put liquid resin to glue the bandages together.
